My Reflection of Drama Material Today
After I read the material of drama, I get many lessons especially about drama itself. I guess before that drama is a fiction, but evidently between drama and fiction are very different. So I can say that drama and fiction are literary work which have the differences. There are history of drama, namely: at the beginnings (Greek Tragedy and Greek Comedy), Drama in the middle age, Morality plays and interludes, Elizabethan drama, Restoration & 18th Century Drama, The 9th Century Drama, The 20th Century Drama and Domestic Tragedies. The drama develops out of the first pagan celebrations of the rites of Dionysius. Briefly, it can say that the drama follows the original polarization of the emotions into tragedy and comedy but always finds itself forced into hybridized forms. I can see that from year to year the drama has developed and in each era has a different characteristic. Futhermore, there are several steps how to understand drama, namely: the first, how we read a play which is consists of three ways; listen to the lines, visualize the scene and envision the action. The second, how to make intonation happen correctly. There are several questions that I can ask to myself, namely: why do I say this line, what do I expect the other person to do when I say this line, how will the other person react, what is my feeling in this situation and what is my emotion.? All the material today is very important and benefit for me. I think to understand and play the drama requires special skills that would take long time to practice. So, after I read the material I want to try dramatic play immediately.

    REFLECTION OF DRAMA
    Dear Mrs.Lilies..
I'm very happy can learn subject of Drama because I think Drama is a theatrical performance and a course which interesting and delight for me. Besides that, many moral messages which we can take and do it. In another way, after I learn it, I can understand how to play a drama and history of Drama.
    Today, we was learned about:
    1. Definition of Drama.
In my opinion, I think drama is a composition in verse or prose intended to describe life or characters or to tell a story usually involving conflicts and emotions through action and dialogue and typically designed for theatrical performance.
    2. Drama as Literature.
In a broad sense, Literature means compositions that tell stories, dramatize situations, express emotion and analyze ideas. Drama is literature designed for stage or film presentation by people, actors, for benefit and delights of other people an audience in this regard.
    3. History of Drama.

    a. Listen to the lines.
We should read the dialogues as we would expect to hear it spoken.
    b. Visualize the scene.
We need to picture in our mind about what the stage looks like so that we can understand the important details related to.
    c. Envision the action.
We must need to observe the stage direction before our performance and pay attention to the importance of movement, gesture and setting in the performance of a play.
    5. How to make Intonation happen corectly?
We must get involved in the situation and really understand what is happening in the text.
Totally, I am very happy in this subject and I love it..

This is my reflection of the drama. After I had read the material about the dramatic vision: an overview. I caught an understanding of the history of drama, all kinds of drama and how to understand the drama. Here I can conclude that the Drama is the specific mode of fiction Represented in performance especially in action. Drama is a literary work that aims to entertain the audience. Talking about the drama, we will be faced with the two ideas. On the one hand we are reminded of the kind of show that's fun or boring. In other respects we think about a manuscript authored or written in dialogue form (a literary work).
Drama as a kind of literary worth or reasonable appreciated and developed. It is said that in accordance with the position of the play in the work of one's personality. Through drama that read, in addition to those that can learn and enjoy its contents, he also can understand what the problem presented in the story. So the material we learn about drama, we gain greater knowledge about the drama.

This is my reflection of the drama. After I had read the material about drama, I learned that drama is literature designed or made to be shown or presented on stage by using people as actors for the benefit and pleasure of the audience, unlike fiction, the essence of drama is the development of character and situation through speech and action. I also catch about the historical development of the drama that serves as a general background information on the one hand as a means of directing attention to those aspects of spoken drama on the other side. As the nature of drama is quite different from that of fiction or poetry, to read it, of course, needs special awareness.
Drama is often combined with music and dance: the drama in opera is generally sung throughout; musicals generally include both spoken dialogue and songs; and some forms of drama have incidental music or musical accompaniment underscoring the dialogue (melodrama and Japanese No, for example). In certain periods of history (the ancient Roman and modern Romantic) some dramas have been written to be read rather than performed. In improvisation, the drama does not pre-exist the moment of performance; performers devise a dramatic script spontaneously before an audience.
I hope that by studying this drama, we can further explore the self. Thank you for your attention. Wassalamualaikum.Wr.Wb

THIS IS MY REFLECTION ABOUT DRAMA
After I read the material that I can imagine the drama about the drama is drama is one form of literature. Drama is a literary work that tells the story through the dialogue of the characters and the drama is work of art in the form of dialogue staged. In addition, one important element is in the drama movement and dialogues. Through dialogues, conflict, emotions, thoughts and character of human life and served in the stage of life. Thus the essence of drama is actually a picture of conflict in the stage of human life through movement and expression of a person.
While the history of the play itself is a drama is born through a long process of creativity. Since centuries, the instigators of the drama continued to explore until delivery of various types and forms of drama performance. However, genre of drama evolved along with the times . But the development of this literary genre is not the same, there are growing rapidly and as for the growing step by step in line with the development of drama was more popular and more modern, over time increasingly a place for drama texts are no longer only performed on stage, but also was appointed to the screen or the big screen in the movie called.

Then a reflection of the history of drama. Turns out I just found out that drama comes from religious ceremonies and rituals. Historical drama develops every age, from the Greek era, medieval times up to elizabeth. At times there is a Greek comedy, which usually presents a funny story. In medieval times in the play or musical are singing, and the last was on drama elizabeth era, in this era began there are a wide variety of drama as a romantic drama.

This is my reflection of the drama. After I read this material , I can conclude about the drama lessons. According to my understanding , the drama is a story of human conflict in the form of dialogue projected on stage by using conversation and action in front of the audience . Talking about the drama would not be complete if we do not know the history of the drama itself. As with other works , dramas born creativity through a fairly lengthy process . Since centuries , the actuators of the drama continued to explore until delivery of various types and forms of drama performance . Although the time and place of a drama which first began is not known for certain , but theories about its origin can be traced based on the following : at the beginning . In the beginning the drama commenced with religious celebration ( Greek Tragedy and Greek Comedy ) , Drama in middle age . In the late ninth and tenth centuries , there were musical presentations of certain church services , par-ticularly the various masses . Then , morality plays and interludes , Elizabethan drama , Restoration and 18th Century Drama , The 9th Century Drama, The 20th Century Drama and Domestic Tragedies . So, it can be concluded that the drama over the years has developed and in every age has different characteristics . This material is very important to learn for me, because I can increase to the knowledge of the wider drama lessons.

    The Reflection of Drama
In my reflection drama can be described as many things. It can be a theatrical performance that tells a serious story, or it can be something that has the quality of being very dramatic, and that is often seen in human beings. I'm sure you know someone who is dramatic. Besides drama is a state, situation, or series of events involving interesting or intense conflict of forces. This is some kinds kinds and difference history of drama, especially The Beginnings ( Greek Tragedy and Greek Comedy ), Drama in the Middle Age, Morality Plays and Interludes, Elizabethan Drama, Restoration and 18th Century Drama, The 19th Century Drama, The 20th Century Drama, and Domestic Tragedies. It also as a word, is derived from ancient Greek meaning "to do" or "deed" and forms the historical basis for what in modern times is referred to simply as theater. Greek influence is felt throughout the history of drama, dance and theater, even the term "thespian" is taken from the first actor, Thespis. We can understand how to play Drama before next our performance. In this class, we had got some steps to play a drama. For the first is listen to the lines. In this part we should read the dialogues as we would expect to hear it spoken. The second is visualize the scene. We are need to picture in our mind about what the stage looks like so that we can understand the important details related to. The third is envision the action. We must need to observe the stage direction before our performance and pay attention to the importance of movement, gesture and setting in the performance of a play. The last is how to make Intonation happen corectly? In the last part we need to get involved in the situation and really understand what is happening in the text.

    That’s are my reflection.
    Thank’s mom!

    1. The Beginnings : Drama commenced with religious celebration. It has two specifically, Greek Tragedy & Greek Comedy. Greek Tragedy addresses itself to serious dimension of life and human character, beside Greek Comedy developed out of early religious celebration.

    THE DRAMATIC VISION: AN OVERVIEW
    A. Drama as Literary
Literature, in a broad sense, means compositions that tell stories, dramatize situations, express emotion, and analyze ideas. Since drama or play meets those characteristics perfectly, it becomes one of literary genres which are very popular among readers. In fact, drama is literature designed for stage or film presentation by people – actors – for the benefit & delights of other people – an audience and in this regard, unlike Fiction, the essence of drama is the development of character and situation through speech & action.
    B. History of Drama
Before turning our attention to particular aspects of drama, as well as to particular plays, it seems worthwhile to survey briefly the development of drama as a generic form.
    1. The beginnings
In the beginning drama commenced with religious celebration.
    a. Greek Tragedy
Greek tragedy addresses itself to serious dimension of life and human character. The character in it is led into death, despair, or misery through some sort of error, either in himself or in his action. Its basic idea is man learns through suffering.
    b. Greek comedy
It was developed out of early religious celebration. It deals with a great deal of boisterous comment on affairs of state through political satire (old comedy), and it also deal with romantic situations (new comedy), and we generally witness potential lovers working from unhappy problematic situation into happy, comfortable ones.
    2. Drama in the Middle Age
In the late ninth and tenth centuries, there were musical presentations of certain church services, particularly the various masses. From these musical presentations came drama as the priests began to speak rather than sing the story.
    3. Morality Plays and Interludes
This emerged at the beginning of 15th century. Here certain passions, vices, and virtues were represented on the stage by actors in funny costumes. The audience could watch the characters such as death, evil, mercy, shame, holiness, which are considered abstract.
    4. Elizabethan Drama
By the late of 16th century, it became the best time in the history of literature. There were various themes and various kinds of drama at the time. This was also the beginning of new kind of play: the romantic comedies, the revenge-murder drama, the court comedies, the pastoral plays as well as secular drama, many of which survive to the present day.
    5. Restoration & 18th Century Drama
In this period of time, heroic plays became extremely popular. It is kind of tragedy or tragic comedy.
    6. The 9th Century Drama
It is like the Elizabethan Drama: there were many varieties of play. There was a strong interest in more serious plays although comedy also emerged. The heroic plays slowly led into the more extreme spectacle and excessive emotionalism of melodrama.
    7. The 20th Century Drama
Theatre became vastly popular, and there are many rebellious dramas. It used to be believed that a real tragedy must follow the Aristotelian Principle that a noble hero suffers a calamitous (dreadful) fall. Now, it’s not completely followed.
    8. Domestic Tragedies
Domestic tragedies (bourgeois drama) are based on the lives of common, ordinary people. In the eighteenth century domestic tragedy reappeared largely as a compensatory reaction against the heroic plays of classical tragedies.

I think after I read this chapter, I can understand overview drama. I can conclude when we read a play, we have no real grasp of what that play is like unless we at least attempt to imagine how actors on a stage would present the material. And about history of drama, when we speak of drama as a genre we must be aware of the different forms that genre has adopted over several thousands years. And I can understand some of ways dramatists moments of life that in the beginning drama commenced with religious celebration.

"My reflection of the drama material"
Even this should be the fourth meeting of drama subject, in fact this is the first time for me to meet the lecturer in the class. Because i just finised my KKN program, so i thought there will be some difficulties for understanding this subject with this sudden assignment. But after reading a little pieces of the material that lecturer gave, i think it would be nice to know more about drama. Here i can catch some definition about how drama is.

Drama is literature designed for stage or film presentation by people- actors- for the benefits and delights of other people- an audience and in this regard, unlike fiction, the essence of drama is the development of character and situiation through speech and action.

When we speak of drama as a genre we must be aware of the different forms that genre has adopted oover several thousands years. In the beginning drama commenced with religious celebration. In the late ninth and tenth centuries musical presentation came drama as the priests began to speak rather than sing the story. Then there were some additions and changes in drama such as they included costume, various themes, characteristics, rebellious drama, and domestic tragedies.

To understand the meaning embedded in drama, we should stick to following step :
    1. Read the dialogue as we would expect to hear spoken. We need to be able to imagine in what kind of intonation the sentence is spoken.
    2. Picture in wer mind what the stage looks like so we can grasp the important detail related to.
    3. Observe the stage direction and pay attention to the importance of movement, gesture, and setting in the performance of a play.

Giving the right intonation when we read a dialogue or a sentence in a drama text is a way of interpreting it. In so doing, we must get involved in the situation and understand exactly what is happening in the text. We can ask the following questions to ourself :
    1. Why do i say this line
    2. What do i expect the other person to do when i say this line?
    3. How will the other person react?
    4. What is my feeling in this situation?
    5. What is my emotion?

Then we will know exactly what we are doing and why we are saying the line, stress will eventualli hit in the right place.

This is my reflection of Drama Material.
After I read material about the drama, I get a lot of learning, especially about the drama. Drama is a form of art that explores and expresses human feelings trough performance. In the drama, the author wants to convey a message through acting and dialogue. Drama also aims at expressing conflict, an action crisis or a certain atmosphere through actors who are normally skilled to perform on stage. A drama is a play written for theatre, radio, or television. It is usually combined with both music and dance. Forms of drama include opera, pantomime and creative drama. Drama usually show something common in our daily lives. So that the audience are invited to participate as if witness and experience the life and events in the story.

It is clear that Drama is a literary composition involving conflict (dramatic situations), action crisis (express emotion) and analyze ideas as atmosphere designed to be acted by player on a stage or film presentation. It is develop out of the first pagan celebrations of the rites of Dionysius (greek tragedy and comedy) until the domestic tragedies. After I read the material about how to understand drama, now I be able to understand drama, that is I must be read eventually with attent to how do you read a play and how to make intonation happen correctly. I think enough for my reflection. Thank you.

I would like to say thank you to mis Lilies who has given me opportunity to write the reflection of drama material today. But before I am going to the topic, I apologize because we (junior) could not be present at the previous meeting, it is because we join in KKN Program.
    Oke, here we go...
I'm very happy can learn subject of Drama because I think Drama is an unique tool to explore and express human feeling. After I read the material about drama, I caught an understanding of it. Drama is literature designed or made to be shown or presented on stage by using people as actors for the benefit and pleasure of the audience, unlike fiction, the essence of drama is the development of character and situation through speech and action.
Drama is born through a long process of creativity.

    REFLECTION OF DRAMA
In my reflection after I had learn about this material, exactly drama is not difficult to understand, not difficult to learn, but difficult to do. Drama as a literature, in a board sense, means the compositions that tell stories, dramatize situations, express emotion, and analyze ideas. Drama is literature designed for stage or film presentation by people or actors, the essence of drama is development of character and situation through speech and action. Drama is written to be spoken. The playwright automatically should present his ideas and pictures of the characters almost entirely through dialogue and action.

    Thanks mam :)

This is my reflection about the drama material especially chapter 1 and 2. I have read the material many times, and I have got many knowledges about drama. I have catched that Drama is a work of literature or a composition which describes life and human activiy by means of presenting various actions of-and dialogues between- a group of characters.
I have found that there are some ways in which dramatists have used the form for capturing moments of life, they are: Drama in the beginnings, in the beginning drama commenced with religious celebration. Drama iin the Middle Age, in the late ninth and tenth centuries, there were musical presentations of certain church services, particularly the various masses. Morality plays and interludes, this emerged at the beginning of the fifftenth century. Elizabethan Drama, by the late of sixteenth century, it became the best time in the history of literature. Restoration and eighteenth century drama, in this period of time, heroic plays became extremely popular. The ninth century drama, it is like the Elizabethan Drama, there were many varieties of plays. The 20th century drama, theatre became vastly ppopular, and there are many rebellious dramas. Domestic tragedies or bourgeois drama are based on the lives of common, ordinary people.
To be able to understand drama, it must be read eventually. Due to its spesific characteristics, some suggestions are given to have a better understanding in a play. All in all, to understand the meaning embedded in drama, I should stick some steps, such as listen to the lines, visualize the scene and envision the action.

    My Reflection of Drama material
I would like to try to tell what I found after I read the material. Today we have learned about the dramatic vision: an overview and how to understand drama. In my opinion drama is all form of spectacle containing stories performed in front of crowds. Here, I can image how to play the role of drama. The first things I would like to say about drama as literature, it is mean compositions that tell stories, dramatize situations, express emotion, and analyze idea. And also in this material I read the history of drama, there are 8 kinds history of drama. I can know the differences history of drama from the beginning (Greek tragedy & Greek comedy), drama in the middle age, morality plays and interludes, Elizabethan drama, restoration & 18th century drama, the 9th century drama, the 20th century drama and the last is domestic tragedies. After I read the next chapter about how to understand drama I found that to be able to understand drama, it must be read eventually. Due to its specific characteristic. Some suggestion are given to have a better understanding in a play. May be so far I have often listened about on understanding of drama and watch drama in theatre. It seems easy in playing the character in the story but may be if I play alone, it would be hard and stiff. After I studied drama subject in class, I would later learn the character in the story. I hope, I will enjoy in drama class. I think that's all about my reflection. Thank you 

This is my reflection of the drama. Drama is a discrete skill in itself such as acting, theatre, refined skill. It can be a theatrical performance that tells a serious story, Here I can conclude that the Drama is the specific mode of fiction Represented in performance especially in action. Drama is a literary work that aims to entertain the audience. Besides that, many moral messages which we can take and do it. In another way, after I learn it, I can understand how to play a drama and history of Drama. and one important element is in the drama movement and dialogues. Through dialogues, conflict, emotions, thoughts and character of human life and served in the stage of life. Thus the essence of drama is actually a picture of conflict in the stage of human life through movement and expression of a person.

This is my reflection of the
drama. After I had read the
    material about drama, I
    learned that drama is
    literature designed or made
to be shown or presented on
    stage by using people as
    actors for the benefit and
    pleasure of the audience,
    unlike fiction, the essence
    of drama is the development
    of character and situation
    through speech and action.
    I also catch about the
    historical development of
the drama that serves as a
    general background
    information on the one
    hand as a means of
    directing attention to
    those aspects of spoken
drama on the other side. As
    the nature of drama is
    quite different from that
    of fiction or poetry, to
    read it, of course, needs
    special awareness.
    Drama is often combined
    with music and dance: the
    drama in opera is generally
    sung throughout; musicals
    generally include both
    spoken dialogue and songs;
    and some forms of drama
    have incidental music or
    musical accompaniment
    underscoring the dialogue
    [melodrama and Japanese
    No, for example]. In
    certain periods of history
    (the ancient Roman and
    modern Romantic) some
    dramas have been written
    to be read rather than
    performed. In
    improvisation, the drama
    does not pre-exist the
    moment of performance;
    performers devise a
    dramatic script
spontaneously before an. Audience. that's all my reflection,
    thank you mam!

This is my reflection. After I have read the material chapter 1and 2. I think, literary is a collection of stories that the situation is dramatized by the author and the author expressed through emotions.
drama is a literary form of dialogue that is supported by the actor to play according to the character drama that is told in the play.
Greek tragedy is drama which also tells of grief found in the human character both in themselves or in their actions.
Greek comedy is drama in which there are elements of fun and funny so that the audience does not get bored.
This section has appeared in a variety of passions, vices and virtues of the actors so that the audience can see playing a character actor in a drama.
in this century to be good drama in the history of literature in this century because there are a variety of themes and a wide variety of dramas that still survive. example: romantic comedies.
emerging players in this period and this hero is very popular and here also have emerged conflicts between love and patriotism.that's all my reflection,

  57. An Overview of Drama

Madame, the first morning I attend your drama class in this smester, I got a question in my mind “Why should I attend this subject?” I thought, drama is simply a work of literary fiction that in every stage in it requires a good acting, and then with my confusion I try to read the material. After all, I got some reason that why we must study this subject. Here’s my brief argument ‘bout drama..

According to Reaske, drama is a work of literature or a composition which describes life and human activity by means of presenting various actions of and dialogues between a group of characters.
So, I argue that through drama, you can become anyone, anywhere, at anytime. By understanding drama, you can learn to understand anyone, anywhere, at anytime. Plays often capture the essence of a culture or a group within that culture. They reveal the attitudes and opinions of their day.

Drama plays a major role in our lives. We all experience real life drama in the form of our own personal experiences as well as real life drama in the news and current affairs. We are also exposed to fictional drama in film, on television, and in the theatre. By studying drama’s impact on our culture, you start to look more critically at what these media offer us and can choose whether or not to accept the messages that they give. By studying drama, you become intelligent spectators who can distinguish between good and bad drama as well as right and wrong ideologies. You can start making informed decisions about the drama that you see.

And then, I also learned that the drama has a long history, so I think drama is a unique tool to explore and express human feeling. Drama is an essential form of behaviour in all cultures, it is a fundamental human activity.

    That’s all madame..

In chapter two about how to understand drama it is clear from our brief survey of the history of drama that drama is written to be spoken. We know nothing about the characters except what we are told about them. To understand the meaning embedded in drama, you should stick to the following steps:
    1. Listen to the lines!
    2. Visualize the scene!
    3. Envision the action!
    A. How to make intonation happen correctly?
Therefore, you can ask the following questions to yourself:
    - Why do I say this line?
    - What do I expect the other person to do when I say this line?
    - How will the other person react?
    - What is my feeling in this situation?
    - What is my emotion?
There are important things need to be done previously in analyzing drama that is defining the play and describing its elements.

History of drama, there are some of the ways in which dramatists:
    1. The Beginnings : Drama commenced with religious celebration. It has two specifically, Greek Tragedy & Greek Comedy. Greek Tragedy addresses itself to serious dimension of life and human character, beside Greek Comedy developed out of early religious celebration.
    2. The Middle Age: There were musical presentations of certain church services, particularly the various masses.
    3. Morality Plays and Interludes: Here, certain passions, vices and virtues were represented on the stage by actors in funny costumes.
    4. Elizabethan Drama: There were various themes and various kinds of drama at that time, and also the beginning of new kinds of play.
    5. Restoration & 18th Century Drama: It is a kind of tragedy or tragic comedy.
    6. The 9th Century Drama: There was a strong interest in more serious plays although comedy also emerged, and it is like Elizabethan Drama.
    7. The 20thCentury Drama: There are many rebellious dramas and theatre became vastly popular.
    8. Domestic Tragedies: Based on the lives of common, ordinary people.
To understand the meaning in drama, you should stick to the following steps:
    1. Listen to the lines
    2. Visualize the scene
    3. Envision the action

My reflections on the drama I learned to know the kind of character of each person, grammar, culture. I think the drama is one subject that can reveal expressions through dialogue and action. Drama is also one way to know the culture in each place our own particular culture. Because, drama delineation process of our lives. As we know, the drama different from prose. Prose is the narrative, while the essence of drama is the development of the characters and situations through words and actions.

After I read the handout (matrial about drama). I got that drama is literature design for stage or film presentation by actors. Drama is furthermore designed for theatrical presentation; that is although we speak of drama as a literary work or a composition, we must never forget that drama is designed to be acted on the stage because I found that drama is the specific mode of fiction represented in performance, or a piece of writing that tells a story and is performed on a stage.

Today, Mrs. Lilies has provided the material on drama’s class, especially on analyzing the story of Hamlet. Here I will give a summary of the story of Hamlet. After I watch the story of Hamlet, I found that the story begins with the death of the King, the father of Prince Hamlet. One day the Prince Hamlet saw the ghost that resembles his father and the ghost tells that Claudius was killed his father. Claudius is the King’s brother, who then took the throne and married Hamlet’s mother, Queen Gertrude. The ghost whisper that Prince Hamlet avenge his father's death by killing Claudius, but Prince Hamlet considers that it is hard to do. Even so , he had committed the murder to avenge his father's death . Hamlet's relationship with Ophelia broken romance after Hamlet knows that Ophelia's father, Polonius, was involved in the murder of his father. Ultimately, Ophelia commits suicide because of the attitude of Hamlet is confusing her. Then Polonius was killed by Hamlet uses his sword. There are some tragic stories that I found. First, Claudius asks Laertes to kill Hamlet with a poisoned sword, but in the action, the swords are swapped and Laertes is mortally wounded with the poisoned sword. Then, Queen Gertrude died accidentally drank a cup of poison. At the end of the story, Hamlet stabs Claudius with the sword. Hamlet's revenge is finally complete.
Well , I think that’s all my summary of the story of Hamlet. I hope I will enjoy in the next meeting on the drama’s class . Thanks . Mrs . Lilies .

    Dear, Mrs. Lilies Youlia.
Today, our class was watched a video by Shakespeare with title is "Hamlet", and we give a howework to analyze characters, plot, or summary about it, based on Hamlet's Drama. Here are some characters of Hamlet's Drama based on my opinion, such as :
    a. Hamlet - The Prince of Denmark, the title character, and the protagonist. About thirty years old at the start of the play, Hamlet is the son of Queen Gertrude and the late King Hamlet, and the nephew of the present king, Claudius. Hamlet is melancholy, bitter, and cynical, full of hatred for his uncle’s scheming and disgust for his mother’s sexuality. A reflective and thoughtful young man who has studied at the University of Wittenberg, Hamlet is often indecisive and hesitant, but at other times prone to rash and impulsive acts.
    b. Claudius
Hamlet’s major antagonist is a shrewd, lustful, conniving king who contrasts sharply with the other male characters in the play. Whereas most of the other important men in Hamlet are preoccupied with ideas of justice, revenge, and moral balance, Claudius is bent upon maintaining his own power. The old King Hamlet was apparently a stern warrior, but Claudius is a corrupt politician whose main weapon is his ability to manipulate others through his skillful use of language.
    c. The Queen of Denmark, Hamlet’s mother, recently married to Claudius. Gertrude loves Hamlet deeply, but she is a shallow, weak woman who seeks affection and status more urgently than moral rectitude or truth, minor character.
    d. The Lord Chamberlain of Claudius’s court, a pompous, conniving old man. Polonius is the father of Laertes and Ophelia.
    e. Hamlet’s close friend, who studied with the prince at the university in Wittenberg. Horatio is loyal and helpful to Hamlet throughout the play. After Hamlet’s death, Horatio remains alive to tell Hamlet’s story.
    f. Polonius’s daughter, a beautiful young woman with whom Hamlet has been in love. Ophelia is a sweet and innocent young girl, who obeys her father and her brother, Laertes. Dependent on men to tell her how to behave, she gives in to Polonius’s schemes to spy on Hamlet. Even in her lapse into madness and death, she remains maidenly, singing songs about flowers and finally drowning in the river amid the flower garlands she had gathered, minor character.
    g. Laertes - Polonius’s son and Ophelia’s brother, a young man who spends much of the play in France. Passionate and quick to action, Laertes is clearly a foil for the reflective Hamlet, minor character.
h.Fortinbras - The young Prince of Norway, whose father the king (also named Fortinbras) was killed by Hamlet’s father (also named Hamlet). Now Fortinbras wishes to attack Denmark to avenge his father’s honor, making him another foil for Prince Hamlet.
    i. The Ghost - The specter of Hamlet’s recently deceased father. The ghost, who claims to have been murdered by Claudius, calls upon Hamlet to avenge him.
    k. Osric - The foolish courtier who summons Hamlet to his duel with Laertes.
    l. Voltimand and Cornelius - Courtiers whom Claudius sends to Norway to persuade the king to prevent Fortinbras from attacking.
    m. Marcellus and Bernardo - The officers who first see the ghost walking the ramparts of Elsinore and who summon Horatio to witness it. Marcellus is present when Hamlet first encounters the ghost.
    n. Francisco - A soldier and guardsman at Elsinore, minor character.
    o. Reynaldo - Polonius’s servant, who is sent to France by Polonius to check up on and spy on Laertes, minor character.

That's all for me about characters analyze based on Hamlet's Drama.

    Characters analyze of hamlet's drama.

    Dear, Mrs. Lilies Youlia.
Today, our class was watched a video by Shakespeare with title is "Hamlet",
The King of Denmark is killed by an apparent snakebite while sleeping in the garden. His brother Claudius assumes the throne and marries the widowed Queen, Gertrude, within weeks of the King's death. Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark and the dead King's son, mourns for his father.
Hamlet’s major antagonist is a shrewd, lustful, conniving king who contrasts sharply with the other male characters in the play. Whereas most of the other important men in Hamlet are preoccupied with ideas of justice, revenge, and moral balance.

Claudius - The King of Denmark, Hamlet’s uncle, and the play’s antagonist. The villain of the play, Claudius is a calculating, ambitious politician, driven by his sexual appetites and his lust for power, but he occasionally shows signs of guilt and human feeling—his love for Gertrude, for instance, seems sincere.
Gertrude - The Queen of Denmark, Hamlet’s mother, recently married to Claudius. Gertrude loves Hamlet deeply, but she is a shallow, weak woman who seeks affection and status more urgently than moral rectitude or truth.

Today, Mrs. Lilies has provided the material on drama’s class, especially on analyzing the story of Hamlet. Here I will give a summary of the story of Hamlet. After I watched the story of Hamlet, I found that this drama is one of the great tragedy themed plays by William Shakespeare. The themes of the plot cover indecision, revenge and retribution, deception, ambition, loyalty and fate. Prince Hamlet mourns both his father's death and his mother, Queen Gertrude's remarriage to Claudius. The ghost of Hamlet's father appears to him and tells him that Claudius has poisoned him. Hamlet swears revenge. He kills the eavesdropping Polonius, the court chamberlain. Polonius's son Laertes returns to Denmark to avenge his father's death. Polonius's daughter Ophelia loves the Prince but his behaviour drives her to madness. Ophelia dies by drowning. A duel takes place and ends with the death of Gertrude, Laertes, Claudius, and Hamlet.

Today our class gave the task to analyze or make a summary of Hamlet story. I think the drama is very attractive because of the power struggle between members of the kingdom. As a reader, I like the story because it shows a lot of social conflict as the forbidden love between Hamlet and Ophelia, the power struggle between Hamlet and Claudius, the helplessness of a mother due to the influence of her new husband, in revenge for the murder is also a thing that makes the reader curious. The plot is very good, but this drama is very show of strength for revenge so sometimes the reader can guess the next event. As a human being is not appropriate for power to kill others and dropped his degree. A result of the seizure and power took vengeance that actually should be avoided by humans. But it also tells the story of forbidden love between Hamlet and Ophelia as a trigger for the murder of Polonius (Ophelia's father). We can conclude that every human being must be conscious with every fact of life due to human ambition can be controlled by his special desire to acquire wealth and position throne.
I would recommend this story to be read by other readers, because by reading this story we can learn how to control ourselves, how to control appetite and how much influence the ambition to gain power. Other than that caused fatal incident of revenge killings that have to be avoided and as a result of the story is to give effect to the reader so that the tension can increase adrenaline readers.

That's all my summary. Thank you Mom.... ;)

Today I have watched drama of hamlet in the class, and after I watched that, I want to analyze the plot of Hamlet. It's to fullfil the material of Drama.

    a. Initial Situation
Only a month after the old King of Denmark dies, his queen remarries to his own brother. Hamlet is not happy to have his uncle as his new step-father. On the political front, young go getter Prince Fortinbras of Norway plans to invade Denmark.
    b.Conflict
    Revenge!
A ghost shows up on the castle battlements, looking suspiciously like the recently deceased King. The ghost has a message for Hamlet: his father's death was no accident. Hamlet is supposed to exact revenge, which, when you're talking about the current King of Denmark and the husband of your mother, is quite the conflict. Meanwhile, Polonius tells Ophelia, Hamlet's girlfriend, to end whatever it is she's doing with Hamlet.
    c. Complication
    Worth Waiting For
Revenge shouldn't be too complicated, if you actually get it done. But Hamlet doesn't get it done. All he manages to do is go crazy, which is complicated in its own right, but more so when you're not sure if he's faking it or not. And then there are some treacherous pseudo friends (Rosencrantz and Guildenstern), and Ophelia is no longer talking to Hamlet, and finally there's some strange sort of lie-detecting play that Hamlet has devised, which is supposedly going to prove whether or not King Claudius is guilty of murdering the former King.
    d. Climax
    Guilty as Charged
We'll give you two choices for the climax: the play-within-the-play, or Hamlet's confrontation with his mother. One way of thinking about it is to see Hamlet's interaction with Gertrude as the play's emotional climax, while the play within the play is the plot's climax. After all, this is the point when Hamlet definitively knows that Claudius is guilty; it's also the first action Hamlet actually takes in the name of advancing his revenge. Yet the emotional boiling point of the play happens in the next scene, when Hamlet rails on Gertrude and stabs Polonius.
    e. Suspense
    The Game's Afoot
The suspense builds when we wonder if Hamlet is going to die on or after the trip to England. We feel more suspense as Claudius and Laertes plot our prince's death, suspense that only increases with every added back-up plan. Will Hamlet die from one of the umpteen poisoned objects?
    f. Conclusion
    3 Fortinbras
Horatio, Hamlet's friend, is basically the only Equity actor left standing, so he gets to explain to Prince Fortinbras of Norway why there are dead bodies all over the floor. And, hey, since the throne's empty Fortinbras will just help himself. Happy ending? Not for Hamlet. But it might be a good ending for Denmark, since Fortinbras is exactly the kind of get up and goer that the kingdom needs.

The specter of Hamlet’s recently deceased father. The ghost, who claims to have been murdered by Claudius, calls upon Hamlet to avenge him. However, it is not entirely certain whether the ghost is what it appears to be, or whether it is something else. Hamlet speculates that the ghost might be a devil sent to deceive him and tempt him into murder, and the question of what the ghost is or where it comes from is never definitively resolved.

    Dear, Mrs. Lilies Youlia F.
Today, our class was watched a video by Shakespeare with title is "Hamlet", and we give a howework to analyze characters, plot, or summary about it, based on Hamlet's Drama. Here are some characters of Hamlet's Drama based on my opinion, such as :
A summary of the plot and many play details can be accessed via Hamlet the play by William Shakespeare. The enduring works of William Shakespeare feature many famous and well loved characters. The descriptions of the characters in his plays paint clear pictures which enable the audience to fully appreciate the plots. The Characters range from comedic to tragic. Figures from history become 'alive' through the character drawings of William Shakespeare. Detailed below are the list of characters in Hamlet :

    1. Hamlet, Prince of Denmark The crown prince of Denmark who returns from the university in Wittenberg, Germany, to find his father dead, his mother married to the king's brother Claudius, and Claudius newly self-crowned King.

    2. Claudius, King of Denmark Dead King Hamlet's brother who has usurped the throne and married his sister-in-law.

    3. Gertrude, Queen of Denmark Prince Hamlet's mother, King Hamlet's widow, King Claudius' wife.

    4. The Ghost Spirit of the late King Hamlet, condemned to walk the earth until his soul is cleansed of its sins.

    5. Polonius The elderly Lord Chamberlain, chief counselor to Claudius.

    6. Horatio A commoner, Horatio went to school with Hamlet and remains his loyal best friend.

    7. Laertes A student in Paris, Laertes is Polonius' son and Ophelia's brother; he returns from school because of King Hamlet's death, leaves to go back to Paris, and then returns again after his own father's murder.

    8. Ophelia Daughter of Polonius, sister of Laertes, Ophelia is beloved of Hamlet.

    13. Marcellus and Barnardo Danish officers on guard at the castle of Elsinore.

  107. Response of Hamlet by Shakespare

Drama course today was discussing about story titled Hamlet created by shakespare. There are many characters with foreign/westernized names and at first it made me confused to know the characters. But the complicated story made me more understand about the characters.

The starting story offers about previous king ghost which haunted the castle and told his son, Hamlet, to revenge his death. Like a joke! How they can believe that ghost does exist even it talks and asks for? I can be endured my lips to make a smirk for a while then i continue to read.

I like it when Hamlet made a strategy to prove that his uncle, Claudius, is the culprit who killed his father. He asked some groups of actreess, who coincidence wanted to held a drama show in the castle, to show the story that he made. The plot was the same like his father was killed occured. So when his uncle saw it, he will show strange act that prove he is the one who killed Hamlet’s father.

Unfortunately, i think Hamlet is too hasty at doing his revenge. Especially when he unexpected to kill polonius, an accomplish of his uncle, in the middle of talking with his mother. Not only polonius who has been killed, another characters are also killed because of missunderstanding and complicated problems they have. Almost all characters are died by Hermet, and so is he. He decided to suicide in the end of the story. The goal was one person should be killed, but the fact all characters are killed.

This story is interesting enough because the story is not flat, there are some conflicts and missunderstandings on it. The characters also have their characteristic themselves.

Before closing my response about this story, i would like to give summary about today lesson. Actually i was confused all day in this course. Why? Because there were some situation that not be placed in the right place. At first minutes, we had to able to find the aims of drama course by writting them on the whiteboard, each of us. I think this was the preface that we should do in the first meeting. Honestly, i got more confused when the lecturer asked us to download or watch movies titled Hamlet in our handphone at that time, unfortunately we were less facilities. I think this was ineffective learning situation. All of our activities we did in the class today just have summary : analyze the story titled Hamled by Shakespare and post it in blog at least until 12.00 a.m ! what a tired day!

I think enough for my response. Thanks for reading and i apologize for my wrong written with some addition of suggestions there...

Today, Mrs. Lilies has provided the material on drama’s class, especially on analyzing the story of Hamlet. Here is a summary about it. Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, is visited by a mysterious ghost resembling his recently deceased father, the King of Denmark. The ghost tells Hamlet that his father was murdered by Claudius, the King’s brother, who then took the throne and married Hamlet’s mother, Gertrude. The ghost encourages Hamlet to avenge his father’s death by killing Claudius. Polonius’ daughter, Ophelia, is in love with Hamlet, but their relationship has broken down since Hamlet learned of his father’s death. Ophelia is instructed by Polonius and Laertes to spurn Hamlet’s advances. Ultimately, Ophelia commits suicide as a result of Hamlet’s confusing behavior towards her. Interesting Facts and information about the Summary of Hamlet and Characters. Additional details, facts and information about the Globe Theatre and the summary and characters of other William Shakespeare plays can be accessed via the Globe Theatre Sitemap. Shakespeare's main source for Hamlet was probably the Third Book of Gesta Danorum (which was also called Historia Danica) by Saxo Grammaticus. The story was retold by François de Belleforest in Histoires Tragiques. It is also possible that a play reputedly by Thomas Kyd (1558-1594) called Ur-Hamlet was used. Interestingly, the term "Ur" means original and due to the total confusion in relation to the publication of any Elizabethan literature there is a theory that Ur-Hamlet was actually written by William Shakespeare as a draft for the final version of Hamlet. The story has inspired many film versions of the Play, the first and most famous was produced in 1948 and starred Laurence Olivier. Other actors who have portrayed the hero either on film, or stage, include Mel Gibson, Kenneth Branaugh, Kevin Kline and Richard Burton. That’s all my summary. Thank you...

Today our class gave the task to analyze or make a summary of Hamlet story. After I watched the story of Hamlet, I found that this drama presents the idea that the world is painful to live in and this is a major theme carried throughout. In the opening scenes we learn of Hamlet’s loss of his Dad, how his Uncle has married his Mother and become King and we see Hamlet’s father return as a ghost, vowing for Hamlet to get revenge. From the outset it is set as a revenge tragedy.
Hamlet is acting actually mad, Personally, I am pro-Hamlet, I like his character and I want him to succeed in his revenge of killing his Uncle for murdering his father. I think that Hamlet is acting mad but then becomes mad and that he actually does love Ophelia. He chooses to ignore his feelings to get revenge and it is this that finally drives his mad. This is mirrored by wanting to murder his Uncle in the right way when he is acting mad and why he doesn’t hesitate when he has the chance again. In my opinion Hamlet has no one on his side as his mother betrays him, his Uncle betrays him, Ophelia dismisses his love for her at first, his friends from college turn on him and I think it could be his loneliness that also drives him to become insane, supported by his killing of Polonius.
It ends with death and betrayal with most of the central characters of the play dead on the stage in the closing scenes.
That’s all my summary. Thank you...

    Ass.
    Good evening Madam.
Today I watched a short chapter of Hamlet story by Willian S. In drama class, this is my point of view about this story that Hamlet was a play that was written by William Shakespeare. Some of the main characters include Prince Hamlet, Ophelia, Yorick, Marcellus, and Horatio. The short summary of Hamlet is tragic. When Hamlet's father dies, his mother remarries to Claudius. The ghost of Hamlet father comes back to tell Hamlet that Claudius killed him. So Hamlet gets revenge. Ophelia loves Hamlet but he drives her mad and she die by drowning. At the end, a duel takes place.
    And this..
Some characters in Hamlet Story :
    1. Hamlet is arguably the greatest dramatic character ever created. From the moment we meet the crestfallen prince we are enraptured by his elegant intensity. Shrouded in his inky cloak, Hamlet is a man of radical contradictions -- he is reckless yet cautious, courteous yet uncivil, tender yet ferocious.
    2. Claudius as a murderous villain, but a multi-faceted villain: a man who cannot refrain from indulging his human desires. He is not a monster; he is morally weak, content to trade his humanity and very soul for a few prized possessions. As the great critic Harley Granville-Barker observes: "we have in Claudius the makings of the central figure of a tragedy."
    3. Gertrude is, more so than any other character in the play, the antithesis of her son, Hamlet. Hamlet is a scholar and a philosopher, searching for life's most elusive answers. He cares nothing for this "mortal coil" and the vices to which man has become slave. Gertrude is shallow, and thinks only about her body and external pleasures. Like a child she longs to be delighted.
    4. Ophelia is the most static and one-dimensional. She has the potential to become a tragic heroine -- to overcome the adversities inflicted upon her -- but she instead crumbles into insanity, becoming merely tragic. It appears that Ophelia herself is not as important as her representation of the dual nature of women in the play.
That's all about my point of view
    thank you Madam.

King Claudius decided to send Hamlet to the England. King Claudius tells Court Rosencrants and Guildensterai to find out what causes the behavior of Hamlet and find out where Hamlet hides polonius's body. But Hamlet does not respond. At that time Hamlet threatened by King and feared by the King claudius that Hamlet will be killed in England. So Hamlet tell to King Claudius about Polonius's body. Now, I would like to analyze hamlet story.
This story is chronological plot, because there are no events that repeated and retold from the past that has happened.
At the beginning of the story it seems the story is no conflict at all, but the hamlet's uncle (Claudius) who is sly want to rule the kingdom, so Claudius killed King (hamlet’s father). After the death of his father, hamlet sees a ghost who confess his father, the ghost tells hamlet to take revenge on Claudius.
But at the end of this story, all the people who involved in this story are killed by hamlet it caused he revenge about demise her father. Moreover, hamlet also died.
The conflict in this story is an internal conflict, because it arises from hamlet’s heart, he revenge on those who was killed his father.

    Characters analyze of hamlet's drama.
Today Mrs. Lilies youlia has provided the material on drama's class, especially on analyzing the story of hamlet. Here i will give a summary of the story of hamlet, I found that the story begins.

Hamlet was a prince in Denmark. His father had already passed away and his uncle, Claudius rided throne . besides his uncle got merried with hamlet’s mother. That was why hamlet became very sad.
At the same time, some hamlet’s friends looked a ghost which considered he was hamlet’ father. When hamlet looked it too. He was ordered to take revenge because Claudius had killed her father. Hamlet pretended mad to trap Claudius.
Furthermore, hamlet also invited some actors to show the story that he wrote. The story was about a man who killed a king by poison him to ear. When that story was performed, Claudius became guilty and went before the performance finished.
Hamlet asked to Gertrude about his father death. Gertrude didn’t want to admit.Hamlet became angry and, when he looked there was a man back of curtain, he stabed. It was never expect he was Polonius. He is Claudius advisor.Polonius passed away and 2 children Laertes and Ophelia mourn.actually, Ophelia fell in love to Hamlet . but , because it was, she became mad and sink under river.
After this, Claudius sends Hamlet to England to study there, even though the real purpose is to repel Hamlet of Denmark. He and his best friend Horatio then ran away from the ship that took him to England and returned to Denmark. There Hamlet accidentally saw a funeral procession for Ophelia and sadly he jump into the grave of Ophelia. Laertes who saw this became angry and wanted to avenge his father's death. a. Hamlet. He is son of the late king hamlet and Queen Gertrude. He is melancholy, bitter and protagonist characteristics.
    b. Claudius. He is the king of Denmark and hamlet’s uncle. He is wicked, ambitious and antagonist characters. Besides, He is also round character because he always appears in the story.

Today our class gave a task to analyze and make a summary of Hamlet story by Shakespeare. After watched this drama i find conflict in this drama when A ghost shows up on the castle battlements, looking suspiciously like the recently deceased King.

Today I watched a short chapter of Hamlet story by Willian S. In drama class, this is my point of view about this story that Hamlet was a play that was written by William Shakespeare.

Hamlet is an enigma. No matter how many ways critics examine him, no absolute truth emerges. Hamlet breathes with the multiple dimensions of a living human being, and everyone understands him in a personal way. Hamlet's challenge to Guildenstern rings true for everyone who seeks to know him: "You would pluck out the heart of my mystery." None of us ever really does.
Claudius is socially adept, and his charm is genuine. He can exhibit deep distress over his "dear brother's death" and admiration for his wife, "Th'imperial jointress to this warlike state."
Gertrude is a shadowy character with little substance on which to hang a characterization. We can examine her through what others say about her more than through what she says.
Ophelia is a difficult role to play because her character, like Gertrude's, is murky. Part of the difficulty is that Shakespeare wrote his female roles for men, and there were always limitations on them that restricted and defined the characterizations devised. In the case of an ingenue like Ophelia, a very young and lovely woman, Shakespeare would have been writing for a boy. The extent to which a boy could grasp subtle nuances might have prevented the playwright from fleshing out the character more fully.
Horatio epitomizes the faithful friend. He only questions Hamlet's judgment once, when Hamlet confides the fates of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Otherwise, Horatio supports every rash decision Hamlet makes.
that's all my summary about character in this drama that i know. thank you mom

In this story there is the antagonist and protagonist, the antagonist is a character played Claudius, Polonius, and Laertes they accessary to murder Hamlet's father the goal is to rule the kingdom. Then the protagonist is portrayed Hamlet, Gertrude, Ophelia, and Horatio. This story would be more interesting if it ended with happiness not end with death.

Today, our class had given task to make a summary of Hamlet Drama by Shakespeare. I think the story of Hamlet drama is good and interest. But my difficulty to understand this story when watching the movie, there is no subtitle so it’s difficult to me to understand this story. Hamlet drama played by some characters, they are Claudius (king of Denmark who has murdered Hamlet’s father, he is antagonist), Hamlet (the major character of the story, he is protagonist), polonious (lord chamberlain, he is antagonist), horatio (friend of hamlet, he is protagonist), Gertrude (the queen of Denmark and mother of Hamlet, she is protagonist), ophelia (daughter of polonious, she is protagonist), ghost of Hamlet’s father (protagonist), Rosencrantz and Guildenstern (the minor character). I can conclude that this drama tell about life in a kingdom. Claudius was a king of Denmark who has antagonist character. He had killed father’s Hamlet with pouring the poison into a drink. Meanwhile, Gertrude the Hamlet’s mother must be marry with Claudius for a moment after her husband died. Hamlet know that the death of his dfather because of murdered by Claudius. He know it from the ghost. So that Hamlet want to vengeance to king Claudius.
Well, that’s all for my summary of Hamlet Drama. I hope next time I can understand deeply of this story.

At the second meeting with honorable Mrs. Lilies Youlia in Drama class, I was introduced to a drama entitled 'hamlet' by william shakespeare, I think it’s a great, although I didn’t really get the meaning of this drama, maybe not yet :D, but thankyou very much for the assignment mom! So I can develop my mind with real imagination. Well, today I’ve watch the downloaded video, “Hamlet” and I’ll try to explain the plot briefly. Here we go..!
The play opens with Prince Hamlet depressed over his father's death and his mother's decision to marry the new king, Claudius, after only two months. Hamlet goes to the ramparts after Horatio, his confident, tells him he saw a ghost. That evening, the ghost of King Hamlet tells Hamlet that his brother, Claudius, killed him. Hamlet swears to avenge the murder. Polonius discloses to King Claudius and Queen Gertrude that he suspects Hamlet's madness stems from his love for Ophelia, Polonius' daughter. Hamlet arranges for a play in which the actors perform a scene similar to the actual murder of King Hamlet. Upon seeing the scene, Claudius calls for lights and storms out of the room.
Claudius prays and Hamlet hears him confessing to the murder and attempting to absolve himself of sin. Hamlet refuses to take action since Claudius may go to heaven. Hamlet speaks with Gertrude, and Polonius hides and listens to the conversation from behind a curtain. Hamlet hears Polonius and kills him. Claudius sends Hamlet to England because of the murder. Laertes returns to Elsinore after hearing of his father's death, and Claudius tells him to blame Hamlet. Hamlet returns, and Claudius advises Laertes to duel with Hamlet. Claudius plans to have Laertes kill Hamlet with a poisoned tip sword. To ensure Hamlet's death, Claudius intends to present Hamlet with a poisoned goblet of wine. Gertrude tells Claudius and Laertes that Ophelia drowned in a creek.
The duel begins and Hamlet scores two hits. Gertrude grabs the poisoned goblet and drinks to Hamlet's fortune. Laertes manages to wound Hamlet, but in the scuffle they exchange swords and Hamlet injures Laertes. Gertrude falls and says Claudius poisoned her. Laertes tells Hamlet he will die as well, and Claudius planned everything. Hamlet stabs Claudius and kills him.

    Drama Course
The moral values of Shakespeare’s Hamlet
Our class were given a task for making a summary or a response about Drama entitled “Hamlet” by highlighting some elements of drama such as plot, characters, moral value, setting, point of view, etc. The Drama Course today was like the inception in digging my ability in understanding and in appreciating English Drama. Mrs. Lilies was trying to make us are able in understanding English Drama by making a summary or a response, so I would like to present my understading in this short essay.
At the first time I watched the video of Drama entitled “Hamlet”, I felt so confused because I have never known about it. Besides it made me confused, it also made me be courious to know the story deeply. After I got the understanding of the story, I got some moral values that may be useful for us more to be paid attention.
Shakespeare's Hamlet is full of moral instructions, for example, there is Polonius' advice to his son Laertes. Polonius is portrayed as old and rather senile. Hamlet calls him a "tedious old fool." Nevertheless, the old man's advice to his son is full of practical wisdom. It showed that this English drama convey the affection of a father to his son.
Another good moral lesson is contained in the tempestuous meeting between Hamlet and his mother. We should keep in mind that this is really the great William Shakespeare who is talking to us through his characters and value his advice accordingly. Hamlet is telling his mother how to break a bad habit, something we could all profit from learning.
That’s what I catches from the story, if I have more time, I might tell more about the moral values because if we try to understand it deeply, we are able to get so many moral values from its story. Briefly, this English drama is a good drama, but I think the story is focused to show the murder that I don’t want if it happens in the real life. Although the story is like that, I know it has some good moral values that we can take for improving our mind or behaviour.
    Thank you Mom.

Today ,our class is about drama of hamlet. Here , I'will write my point of view about it.
Laertes returns from France to avenge the death of Polonius, his father. Claudius plots with him to make Hamlet’s death appear accidental and encourages him to anoint his sword with poison – putting a cup of poison aside in case the sword is unsuccessful.

In the action, the swords are swapped and Laertes is mortally wounded with the poisoned sword. He forgives Hamlet before he dies.

Gertrude dies by accidentally drinking the cup of poison. Hamlet stabs Claudius but is himself fatally wounded. Hamlet's revenge is finally complete. In his dying moments, he bequeaths the throne to Fortinbras.
Hamlet love's.

    1. What do you like?
    Answer:
I like Hamlet when he invited some actors to stage a story that he wrote himself. The story is about a man who murders the king by pouring in his ear hole. After Claudius saw that, he reacted badly and left before show ended. So, Hamlet believed that he is guilty.
    2. What makes you angry?
    Answer:
I feel angry when Hamlet’s father died and Claudius reflected the throne of Hamlet’s father became a king and married Hamlet’s mother. Besides, when Hamlet asked to his mother about his father death and she didn’t want to confess who has murdered his father.
    3. What bored you?
    Answer:
I feel bored when Hamlet procrastinates to kill Claudius with waiting suitable time whereas Claudius has killed father and making him sad because of father’s death.
    4. What makes you happy?
    Answer:
I strongly happy when Hamlet killed Claudius with the poisoned sword to revenge toward father’s death, he died too because of poisoned sword of Laertes.

The Tragedy of Hamlet, prince of Denmark
Today, I have read the Tragedy history of Hamlet by William Shakespeare whose Claudius murdered the Hamlet’s father and married his mother. Besides that, I would prefer to tell about the characters who involved in hamlet’s history.
First, Hamlet is evil when he wishes to avenge the death of his father who was murdered by Claudius. Then, he is smart when he has idea to make Claudius guilty toward father’s death through showing of story on the stage with some actors.
Second, Claudius is greedy. We can see that he wants to become the king and married Gertrude with murder Hamlet’s father before.
Third, Gertrude is disappointing when she didn’t confess that Claudius has murdered Hamlet’s father.
Fourth, the Ghost is evil. It could be seen when she wanted Hamlet to avenge his death to Claudius.
Fifth, Horatio is scholar. He attempt to speak with ghost to know the real accident that has happened.
Sixth, Ophelia is devotee of family. It can see when her father named Polonius died, she goes crazy. And the last is Laertes. He is easy to be incited. It is proven that Claudius tells about the reason death of father. He become angry to Hamlet and wanted him died so he challenged sword fight whereas she didn’t know the real story.
In conclusion, the character of hamlet’s story is various. For instance evil, easy to be incited, devotee, greedy, scholar until disappointing. So it makes interesting plot to read for reader to understand the story of Hamlet clearly and can take moral value from the story.

    Dear Mrs. Lilies Youlia
Today, You gave us material on drama. Especially about the summarize of hamlet’s story
    by William Shakespeare.
Something is amiss in Denmark -- for two successive nights, the midnight guard has witnessed the appearance of the ghost of Old Hamlet, the former King of Denmark who has recently died. The guards bring Horatio, a learned scholar and friend of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, to witness this apparition. Though skeptical at first, Horatio sees the ghost and decides to report its appearance to Hamlet.
Meanwhile, a new king of Denmark has been crowned: Claudius, Old Hamlet's brother. Claudius has taken Old Hamlet's widow, Gertrude, as his wife. We watch their marriage celebration and hear about a threat from the Prince of Norway, Fortinbras, which Claudius manages to avoid by diplomacy. Hamlet is in attendance at this wedding celebration; he is hardly in joyous spirits, however. He is disgusted by his mother's decision to marry Claudius so soon after his father's demise. Horatio tells Hamlet of the appearance of the ghost and Hamlet determines to visit the spirit himself.
Meanwhile, the court adviser, Polonius, sends his son, Laertes, back to Paris, where he is living. Laertes and Polonius both question Ophelia (sister and daughter, respectively) about her relationship with Hamlet. Ophelia admits that Hamlet has been wooing her. They tell her to avoid Hamlet and reject his amorous advances, emphasizing the importance of protecting her chastity. Ophelia agrees to cut off contact.

    thank you mam..

The drama Hamlet by William Shakespeare shows that revenge will not bring the expected results. Revenge is an emotional thing, therefore one can go wrong in the current step in the process. I praised Hamlet investigate first, whether or not that Claudius is guilty of his father's death. Plans were drawn up relatively neat, but he can not control all things, mistakes still finding his way and make him lose his loved ones, forever. That's what I get from the story hamlet. Thank you.

The story of Hamlet by William Shakespeare told about the Prince of Denmark (Hamlet), who planned to revenge to the death of his father. He wanted to revenge to his uncle (Claudius), he knew that his uncle killed his father because the spirit of his father came and told that his uncle killed him by poison. That was when all the plans of revenge started, but Hamlet accidentally killed Polonius, then it made Ophelia felt so sad. After all the tragedy, in the end almost all of the characters on this story died on the war, except Hotario who got a last petition from his friend (Hamlet) to tell all about Hamlet’s story.
    The answers of the questions:
    1. I like when the spirit of Hamlet’s father come and told that he was killed by Claudius, it makes me feel interested to watch all the story. Then, I also like when Hamlet successfully did his revenge by killed Claudius with poisoned sword and poisoned wine.
    2. The tragedy that makes me angry is when Hamlet was accidentally killed Polonius, it made Ophelia felt sad. I think he is careless, he should not have to kill Polonius.
    3. I feel bored because most of the story just told about do the revenge, killing people, suicide, and war.
    4. I feel happy when in the end of the story Hotario was not suicide, because he got a last request from his best friend (Hamlet) to tell the story about Hamlet’s tragedy. At least, all the characters in this story did not die.

    Assalamualaikum wr.wb mom.....
Today, I should make summarize about William Shakespeare drama. I will conclude Hamlet’s drama from point of view aspect. The point of view Hamlet’s drama use third person. Because, the writer uses name in all characters such as Hamlet is a prince from Denmark, Claudius as Hamlet, Getrude as mother’s Hamlet etc.
And then I will reflect this drama based on your questions mom......
First, I very like Hamlet’s drama. Because, this drama is unique and tighten. To highlight the section is when early morning Hamlet see the ghost his father in path. And I like this story because of Hamlet’s brilliant idea. When he order actors like acting the invention scene embelishment his father and he sure if Cladius aware make an error and kill father’s Hamlet or his brotherself.
But, I feel angry with crafty planing of Cladius to kill Hamlet too. I don’t like Cladius’s attitude. Cladius is very cruel. He can’t love his brotherself. It is very regrettable to me. I hate Cladius character and he make me angry in reading this story.
There isn’t a scene where I feel bored to read this story. Because, this story make me interest to read and read again. I think this story is very good drama to watch or read by reader. In fact, this drama is a famous tragedy Shakespeare.
And the last, I’m very happy with ending this drama. Hamlet as mind character and protagonist win in poniard’s competition with Laertes and Cladius. And that victory make Hamlet feel has finished punish Cladius as embelishment his father. Finally, I get the moral value from this drama is a good person will get goodness again.
I think that’s all my reflection for task today. Thank you mom. Wassalamualaikum wr. wb

    2. What makes you angry?
Answer: I feel angry with Hamlet when he tried to kill Polonius (Ophelia's father) and he has idea to kill Claudius, so he was playing as madness.
    3. What bored you?
Answer: I feel bored when Ophelia was suicide in the river whereas she was falling in love with Hamlet.
    4. What makes you happy?
Answer: I am happy when Hamlet tried to escape England with his friend, Horatio and went to back to the kingdom in Denmark.

After I watched a video about Hamlet by William Shakespeare on YouTube, I found the character of Hamlet. He is temperamental person when he kill Polonius whereas he is not a bad person like a Claudius and this incident makes Ophelia (Polonius's daughter) sadly. Moreover, Hamlet Drama, tell about The King of Denmark (Hamlet's Father) murdered by Claudius (Hamlet's Uncle). And the ghost of his father tells about it and asked Hamlet to kill Claudius. In this story also tell about Hamlet's mother, Gertrude, just married with Claudius. At the end, all people in the Kingdom were died. Gertrude drink the poison, Hamlet kill Laertes and Claudius but he also drink the poison like a his mother

After, I read this story I think this story full of conflict in family. But, this story has full of message for human. Like as: we have to stay away from envious because it will make bad thing or great bad thing like Claudius, he is egoistic person. He loves Hamlet’s mother, Queen Gertrude. So, he kills the King. And not only that, Claudius wants the throne for himself. He has accomplice with Polonius.
    1. Actually, I think I like this story at moment Hamlet swear to himself will search who is have been murdering his father. So, he loves his father very much I can guess it well. And I like Horatio, he is good best friend for Hamlet. Moreover, which I like this story because Hamlet is smart Prince. He make good plan which is for evince that his uncle, Claudius was murdered his father. But, actually, I dislike this story at all. All of the scene teaching bad thing like as death of Ophelia because she cannot be strong at moment her father, Polonius was murdered.
    2. Afterward, the thing which is making me angry is why all of player has to die. Like as: Queen Gertrude, Ophelia, and Hamlet’s self. Why not Claudius and Polonius only. So, between Ophelia and Hamlet will become great couple for carry out the Ellsinore Castle in Denmark. May be this story will happy ending.
    3. In this story I bore at moment they are murderer each other.
    4. I am happy at moment Hamlet has been revenged death of his father.

Today, I have watched the drama of Hamlet by William Shakespeare. And I would prefer to tell about the moral value of the story. Hamlet drama is full of moral values. For example, The story tells about murder that is not good for students’ perception. But in the oter hand, it has some moral value about friendship. Hamlet is a loyal friend, he always give his attention to his friend, especially Horatio. Hamlet respects and trusts him enough to confide in him. And other moral value is Hamlet's loyalty to his love, Ophelia, that he tries to get thee to a nunnery. And then, Hamlet has good attitude to his family. When his father's ghost asks him to avenge his murder, Hamlet readily agrees out of love for his father. And the last, Hamlet has moral values in his life that he want to suicide someone but he cannot do it because he believes in God's laws.
    1. What do you like?
I like the story when Hamlet thinks that if he kills Claudius when Claudius is praying, he will go to heaven. That story is so funny and makes me laugh with his thought.
    2. What makes you angry?
I got angry when Hamlet and other characters died at the end of the drama.
    3. What bores you?
I feel bored when the story just tells about the murder, the murder, and the murder too. I don’t like the murdered story.
    4. What makes you happy?
I was happy when Halmet go back to Denmark to take revenge on Claudius in his palace.

Romeo and Juliet is a romantic love story written by William Shakespeare , tells the story of two lovers who are in love , but they are hindered because the two families against each other so sweet right?

Romeo and Juliet is said come from rival families. Pure relationship liver problems eventually must end tragically due to opposition for the sake of contradiction that they get from their families who decide to end their lives for the sanctity of love.

In my opinion this story is a genre of drama that tells the sad story. In tragedy, the characters usually have good qualities but suffered bad luck and cause him, or relatives and friends , have problems.

What are depicted within these stories sometimes become a passion for me in terms of romance and definitely positive in terms of this story is very romantic when Romeo and julia dead willing to sacrifice just for love ohhh .... love is blind .
The story is very romantic and amazing for me.

This is my response about Romeo & Juliet stories

Romeo and Juliet was a wonderful performance with good adaptions to suit the modern day audience. For example, the costumes are 21st century, the set is slightly industrial and the fighting scenes were more modern day with pocket knives instead of swords. The big digital clock at the back of the stage was also really modern because it was digital, and added an edge of urgency, because it showed time slipping away as well as showing the characters race against it to gain happiness. The director made a superb casting. The actors developed the personality of their characters. They had great depth to their acting, displaying all elements in the famous play, Romeo and Juliet such as tragedy, comedy and romance. Simon Coates played the priest. He was a great actor and very relaxed. The actors who play Romeo and Juliet are young, which is authentic, because the characters were supposed to be teenagers and this is their first true love. Some scenes however were slow, the characters spoke long monologues and it was difficult to interpret the meaning of the text. If I had been given more clues, I might have understood it a little better. This performance of Romeo and Juliet was a really successful adaptation of original intentions of Shakespeare’s theatre.

Romeo and Juliet is a story to find first love, true love, and tragedy. Romeo and Juliet is one of Shakespeare's best known plays. For centuries it has captivated the minds and hearts of the audience or the reader headlong romance is no different.
This story begins with a really interesting conflict between the two families, namely family romeo and juliet . They do not like romeo and juliet love relationships romeo and juliet that relationship secretly behind their families. But the relationship between the mind and make the two families quarrel heats up. I feel this story is really nice to bring viewers and readers follow and feel what the characters in the story.
I really like this story, how to fight for the love that is shown to provide a meaningful lesson so great for viewers and readers, especially for me.

This story is interesting to me, because in their modern clothes I can relate more to the characters and recognise them easier which made it lots easier to follow. The acting was brilliant and Robert Icke showed the age of the characters and the love between Romeo and Juliet really well. However I did not think that there was enough of a connection between Romeo and Mercutio which meant that it made a lot less sense when Romeo killed Tibult in revenge for Mercutio’s death. I thought that the clock showed how quickly everything happened and which I thought was very good at showing how small actions can have huge consequences. I also liked the end of the story when Juliet had taken the drug to stop her heart. I thought it had a kind of spooky and surreal feeling to it showing that she was “dead”. I liked the fact that although the end is tragic it didn’t really make anyone cry. I thought that this was good because it shows how although they died it ended with peace between the two families and the feeling that something positive had come from their deaths.

This is my response about the story of Romeo and Juliet.

This production of Romeo and Juliet was, to put it simply, the best Shakespeare I have seen to date. Now, admittedly I write from the position of being far from an expert on Shakespeare and went into the theatre on the press night of this magnificent performance knowing perhaps embarrassingly little about the actual plot of Romeo and Juliet. Nonetheless I was bowled over by how remarkably engrossing and easy the play was to follow regardless of the stereotypical views surrounding the difficulty in understanding the language. With this in mind, I reckon the play would appeal to all ages and those who are sceptical about Shakespeare or just completely new to it, as well as Shakespeare aficionados.
The bar was set extremely high by all of the company with a particularly ingenious performance from Catrin Stewart as Juliet, whereby she managed to mature greatly as a character through the duration of the play and acted the transition in Juliet from a girl to a woman quite flawlessly. I also found Tom Mothersdale’s portrayal of Mercutio very entertaining.

The concept of fate and time highlighted by the director was compelling; along with the set and costumes all adhering to modern day, this allowed for a pacy and engaging production. I found the concise set, incorporating a moving bed and box above it, interesting to watch and had a particular soft spot for the light bulbs suspended at varying lengths at the back of the stage.

The way in which all elements of the production were tied together could definitely be labelled as seamless and I found it most pleasing to watch. A must see.

    Jessica Dale, Chilwell School

Romeo & Juliet is usually an amazing play, but this was easily the best version of it that I have seen so far.

In their modern clothes you can relate more to the characters and recognise them easier which made it lots easier to follow.

I thought that the clock showed how quickly everything happened and it helped with the sliding doors effect, which I thought was very good at showing how small actions can have huge consequences.

I also liked the bit of film near the end when Juliet had taken the drug to stop her heart.

Overall I think that Shakespeare would be proud if he could see this adaptation of Romeo & Juliet by Robert Icke.

Before saying anything else I should mention that I hate Romeo and Juliet. Or more so, I hate the more common interpretation of the fated star crossed lovers who can only live out their love in death. I personally prefer the satire of teenage idiocy and young lust. So I was fully prepared to take a disliking to the Headlong production of the famous play, however thanks to some stunning performances, careful character development and sensitivity, all done with a modern twist, I found myself highly enjoying this exciting and innovative production.

One of the most original concepts was the sliding doors idea; the notion that the final climax could have easily been avoided, playing with the themes of fate against circumstance. Many scholars have argued that Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy of fate as opposed to a tragedy of character, and this play seems to agree with this notion. The bright lights coming on and watching the actors seamlessly reverse parts of their scene, only to do it again with a slightly different action and different consequence is not only visually stunning, but makes the audience think about fate, tragedy and how the smallest actions can have the biggest consequences.

Today, the material of drama is Romeo and Juliet. The symbole of the drama is Poison, because I think Poison is symbolizes human society’s tendency to poison good things and make them fatal, just as the pointless Capulet-Montague feud turns Romeo and Juliet’s love to poison. After all, unlike many of the other tragedies, this play does not have an evil villain, but rather people whose good qualities are turned to poison by the world in which they live.

I think the theme of the drama Romea and Juliet has a theme related to the law of value, true love, and power differences. legal value which when Romeo kills Paris, he was exiled by the local law. Value and power differences that exist in view of the status of the two main characters family, competing with each other. True love, wherein Romeo killed himself because he thinks women who have dicintanya mat. Juliet has woken see her lover was dead, he immediately took the dagger Romeo and thrust the dagger into his stomach. Finally, she was dead on the side of Romeo.

At an evening event was held which brought Juliet and Romeo , they looked at each other and finally they fall in love , but their relationship will not be sanctioned by Romeo and Juliet's families because their families against each other . Besides that Juliet should marry Paris ( choice of male family ) , but Juliet loves Romeo and Juliet finally decided to get married secretly with Romeo . on the other hand strongly supports the Friar to marry Juliet with Romeo and friar finally made plans to buy herbal ingredients that make Juliet appear dead for 42 hours and the plan was already known by romeo . Romeo then also buy a deadly poison to commit suicide before that romeo has killed Paris. So He drinks poison and dies just in time for Juliet woke and found her dead , and she was killed himself with a dagger , and they both died , and in the end after they both died the family peace .

SUBJECT: ASSIGNMENT OF READER RESPONSE ROMEO AND JULIET’S DRAMA

    Assalamu’alaikum w.w..
Today, we was given an assignment of reader response about Romeo and Juliet’s Drama. Here is My reader response:
In my opinion, Romeo and Juliet’s Drama is a romantic story and the themes in this story tell us about the fundamental and often universal ideas explored in a literary work. Love is naturally the play’s dominant and most important theme. The play focuses on romantic love, specifically the intense passion that springs up at first sight between Romeo and Juliet. In Romeo and Juliet, love is a violent, ecstatic, overpowering force that supersedes all other values, loyalties, and emotions, but I disagree at the end of the story that describes Romeo was followed Juliet of suicide by drinking poison because he thought that she had died from drinking poison as well. I think it is very silly, just because someone dared love to do everything including the sacrifice of lives. Love indeed can make a smart people can be stupid. So that, be careful with love, because love can blind our hearts.
That’s all for me, thank you very much mom.. :)

This is my response about the story of Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare.
I think Romeo and Juliet’s story is very interesting and makes me sad at the end of the story. This story started when at a party, Romeo locks eyes with a young woman named Juliet. They immediately fall in love, but they do not realize that their families are bitter enemies. When they are aware of each other's identity, they were destroyed, but they can’t help the way their feel. Romeo and Juliet sneak into the yard and they decided to get married. Juliet's mother, completely unaware of his daughter's secret marriage to Romeo, informs Juliet that she will marry a man named Paris in a few days. Juliet, outraged, refuses to comply. Finally Juliet drink the potion and everybody assumes that she is dead - including Balthasar, who immediately tells Romeo. Romeo assumes that his wife is dead. He rushed into Juliet's tomb and in deep grief, drank poison bottle. Moments later, Juliet wakes to find Romeo dead and kills herself due to grief. After the family know what had happened, they finally ended their bitter feud. Thus the death of the children bring families together. Romeo and Juliet is a true tragedy in the literary sense because the families gather sufficient self-knowledge to correct their behavior but not until it is too late to save the situation.
That’s all for my response, thank you.
